Otis Boykin: 1920-1982

Ink drawing of Otis Boykin and resistor he made that is used in heart simulators and guided missiles

Boykin made a more accurate resistance value in our wiring systems that we use today. TV', PC's, and Radios are all examples of how what Boykin made more possible to move massive amounts to the modern world we live in today. His mother who died of heart failure was his motivation to create the pacemaker which is an implantable heart monitor used in health care today, also he couldn't afford to finish out his degree at Illinois Institute of Technology so it pushed him harder to achieve his goals. Even his modest upbringing did not impact his goals or inventions. A lot of impact has been made already on how we view African Americans in the world of technology today and people like Boykin made his impact even more massive on how we use these inventions today.
